Web Designs
There are two basic website designs: Static and CMS (Content Management System).
Picture a bulletin board under glass and you do not have access to they key. That is a static web page. It usually has about five tabs - Home, About US, History, maybe a Vision, Mission or Description of the Services, perhaps a Directory and Bios of Management, a site of photos and brief quips about whatever it is they are about, and a Contact Us tab. As the name implies, it is static. It is like reading a phone book ad. The visitor can only read about, not interact.

Obviously the static website is initially the cheapest. But if you need to change anything up in the future, the rigidity makes it more difficult and costly to do so.

The CMS system is more fluid. You can add articles, change links and banners, have sections for the customer to interact with the website such as an online store where they can choose an item, enlarge it or see different angles, send it to a shopping cart, input their payment information and get an online receipt emailed to them. There may even be a place for them to blog about you.

Clearly, CMS systems are the Lexus models and the Static are the Kia models when it comes to website design. Have your web designer over the pros and cons of each and fully explain the costs, the variables and why one is the better choice for you and your business. It is imperative to fit you with the right site design, not try and fit the site design to you. Website design can be an arduous process without the right people to guide you through it.
